Andre Salmon

Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador (small city located in the half of the world) where he is an icon in the ‘underground electronic music scene’ and one of the most important influence for the new generation in this exotic place. His childhood was hard, without a father and with his mother around the world. his grandma’ took care of him and teached him how to live; this semi-poor guy was doing music all the time with his friends as regular teenage, playing his old guitar and singing rebel mind thoughts against the system; with his punk attitude and weird philosophy about life of how to live in this raw city, he finds the electronic culture and starts involving more in the underground movement; after all that plus many weird things, he learns about the electronic music production and the art of the live performing and live mixing as Dj!

After all this knowledge and passion, everything happens with a lot of hard work! Actually Andre Salmon is the owner and founder of many exotic music labels: Anima Somnis (Dub Techno with minimalistic textures and mental melodies that molds the human resonance and vibration of the universe + some techy and housy stuff), Maniacs (A home for the isolated tunes, going from independent electronic music and deep house to indie rock and chill out music) and Ouch! (Painful dance music), Fenomeno (techy and house witha touch of minimalistic gruv’), Fishmatism (Special place just for Andre Salmon’s electronic dance music), Above From The Tree (Ambiuent-abstract electronic music). Andre Salmon also just build with his big brother Aert Prog their new label of records called: S A G M E N This label prints records on vinyls, on good wax…. nice music and great artists!! Also Andre build another new label that prints vinyl records ‘Addiksion • Music’ with his partner in crime Anthony Megaro!! All this labels have too much to tell…. About music …. Is still making the ‘micro and macro tech-house’ and his sexual alien dance music, also downtempo, abstract, ambient, breaks, burial tones. multi-texture music and many more bizarre things.

This guy went back to the past to find his roots, this research, reading about evolution and ancient tones, this knowledge made a new shape on his music, transforming his sounds into light, darkness, sadness and unknown feelings. He says ‘All is about resonance’, thats why he works with ‘sacred resonances’, and frequencies lower than 20Hz, this low frequencies aren’t made to listen, are vibrations that helps perceive hidden emotions. Andre Salmon …. I don’t think about any future or past, I just live the ‘now’ all the time, in the action, when I’m playing as Dj or performing live, everything comes in that moment; no matter what you play if the people is dancing, old or new, if the crowd is enjoying the music…. you are the right guy there!! Andre also have a project called ‘Merac’ this means ‘ascension day’ in a very strange and ancient language called ‘Azeri’ that will shows Andre Salmon’s shadow….

MATADOR

As DJ Awards’ 2016 Electronic Live Performer, Matador is a revolutionary live artist with a shining reputation for versatility, whilst never compromising on quality. Accolades have been showered on the Dublin-born producer, from proud ambassador of the NEVE 5088 Console, and Richie Hawtin’s PLAYDifferently MODEL1 mixer, his tenure as an ENTER resident at their worldwide events, to his consistent spot in RA’s Live Artist poll, bringing him rapid worldwide acclaim and a devoted worldwide fan base of clubbers and peers alike. Still thirsty for new worlds to conquer, Matador, aka Gavin Lynch, recently took on a new role as label boss for his RUKUS imprint.

Matador’s breath-taking explosive live shows result in packed crowds and an equally packed touring schedule including key bookings at top clubs and festivals such as Awakenings, Tomorrowland, Sonus Croatia, Ultra, and Output, DC-10, Space Ibiza, Stereo Montreal.

Playing to ecstatic thousands at sold out shows worldwide is a far cry from his early years. Raised on Motown, Matador then grew up with Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd, Orbital, Kasabian… As a teenager inspired by electronic giants Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Jeff Mills, he listened faithfully to the Essential Mix, collecting records and learning to DJ on any pieces of equipment he could afford. His drive to learn more led him to a sound engineering course at Dublin’s Sound Training Centre, with an emphasis on electronic music production, and an obsession was born. ‘Whilst electronic production is my first love, it has been incredibly important to have knowledge of instruments in their purest form both in a studio and in a live environment.’

Along with early interest from Cocoon and Perc Trax, an encounter with Richie Hawtin boosted him from aspiring DJ on the Dublin underground club circuit to a key component of Hawtin’s Minus imprint. His success was assured by his string of successful releases there such as ‘Kingswing’ and his ‘Spooks’ EP, and by his innovative, ever-evolving live shows. His relationship with Hawtin continues to be a fruitful one, having been enlisted as an ambassador for his PLAYDifferently Model 1 analog DJ mixer in 2016.

Last year also saw Matador founding his RUKUS label. ‘I’ve always loved the idea of taking my tracks from conception in the studio all the way through to release,’ he says. Initially creating an outlet for his own music, this year he invites exciting new and established talent to the imprint, as he extends his range as label boss. In 2016 he unveiled his newest live show at Loveland (ADE 2016), and he promises to add more new elements into an already complex and acclaimed performance in 2017.

Unusually multi-talented outside music, Matador’s many interests and skills have fed back into his DJ career. His early twenties were spent training as a chef to the point of a promising career in Dublin’s Michelin starred restaurants. Following his Dad’s advice of ‘find something you love doing and you’ll never work a day in your life’, he split his time between the kitchen and the decks, before cooking became a much loved hobby and music his life’s work.

In 2010 all the efforts gave to Adapter the chance to produce instant classic tracks ready to be played by artists as Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola and Loco Dice, released on labels as Viva Music, Get Physical, Octopus and Materialism.

The young boy that started his path in the world of club culture many years before finally gain a solid international reputation and create his own party “Dirtyclub” in Naples. In all these years Adapter shared the decks with guests like Adam Beyer, Matthias Tanzmann, Gary Beck, Marco Faraone, Oscar Aguilera and Daniel Sanchez to name few of them. Spain, England, Croatia, Germany and Austria are just few of the countries in which he performed. The costant international rising of Adapter seems to be not finished yet and the only question left is: “What’s Next?”

The DJ turned producer has since gone on to win numerous accolades with his studio exports, most notably being presented with an award for the biggest selling record of 2013 by Beatport for his sterling remix of Josh Butler’s ‘Got A Feeling’ on MTA Records, which was #1 for six weeks and would still today be the second highest selling record of all time on the platform. This would continue the exciting story for the young newcomer, one that would lead to performances at Creamfields Festival (Liverpool), Lovebox (London), Pacha Festival (Amsterdam) and a residency at the infamous Sankey’s Soap Box Manchester.
In 2015, he would catch the attention of BBC Radio 1’s key dance music gatekeeper Pete Tong who would announce him as a Future Star off the back of releases on Circus Recordings and 2020Vision setting the tone for a hectic touring schedule over the next year.
It would be 2017 though where Bontan would up the game. His first release of the year ‘Call You Back’, another coming together with Josh Butler on Origins Rcrds, would climb to #1 on Beatport and go on to be streamed over 500,000 online. A stand out release for both artists.
True to form, Bontan swiftly followed up with his debut on Hot Creations. The First Time EP was premiered by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 and was supported by the likes of Faze Magazine, Tsugi and DJ Mag. It went on to receive over 300 radio plays worldwide and again streamed over 500,000 times as both tracks from the EP reached #3 (The First Time) and #8 (Personal Questions) in the Beatport Main Chart. There are not many acts who can stake a claim to three records in the top 10 chart at one time.
The First Time would go on to become Hot Creations biggest selling record of the year, and make Bontan the highest selling artist Beatport across all genres, laying the foundations for a defining year for the young artist. With a touring schedule reaching new territories including Australia, South America and North America, Bontan is proof that good things happen to good people.

DANNY TENAGLIA

Danny Teneglia was born in Brooklyn, New York, where he stayed until his move in 1985 to Miami Florida. Danny’s first gigs in New York include the Roller Palace, on of the first roller discos in Brooklyn, Stix and Crisco Disco. In Florida, Danny was a..
The tale of Danny Tenaglia’s love affair with music, and the world’s subsequent romance with him, is one of the critical veins in the body of dance music. He is every dancer’s secret discovery; a random purchase at the record store, a reluctant night out that unexpectedly turned magic. Explosive success came not behind a major label release, or a world tour, or a radio hit remix: It happened when enough people had the private Tenaglia experience for themselves.
The momentum started building in early ’70s New York, when a barely 10-year-old Danny first got the feel of vinyl in his hands. Enthralled by the music of artists like Philly Soul’s The Trammps, Motown’s Marvin Gaye, African trumpeter Hugh Masekela, and disco producer Giorgio Moroder, he started to collect records, plumbing the depths of each one, and frequently finding that he preferred the B-side to the A. It was 1979 when he discovered legendary nightclub Paradise Garage, where DJ Larry Levan’s rich, genre-less blend of music seemed to mirror his own “no boundaries” policy. It was here where Danny found the club model he would one day emulate: Levan’s bold style, the venue’s plain décor, and the party’s warmth and inclusiveness.
Danny left New York in 1985 and launched a successful DJ-ing career in Miami as a resident at Cheers nightclub. There he schooled the locals in classic New York and Chicago house, but five years later he returned home, tired of only playing other people’s music. He started to assemble an impressive roster of remixes, including Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy” (1991), Jamiroquai’s “Emergency on Planet Earth” (1993), and Madonna’s “Human Nature” (1994). But his first epic was The Daou’s “Surrender Yourself” (1993): With the kick in the bass and the underlying rhythm as the foundation, Tenaglia blanketed Vanessa Daou’s wispy vocal with grand, thick chords, a combination of classic groove and modern club-ready depth that was, at the time, entirely new. The title of his 1995 debut artist album on New York’s Tribal Records described it perfectly: Hard & Soul. But even if the cocktail was his own, Tenaglia never hesitated to declare how heavily his influences weighed in his productions – everyone from Patti LaBelle to Kraftwerk, with countless lesser-known Soul, R&B, Latin, Samba, and Disco artists in between.
In 1996, after a brief stint at New York superclub Roxy, Danny landed a Saturday night residency at white-hot Twilo, a position that upped his profile but didn’t satisfy his expanding artistry as a DJ and producer. While New York swooned for big-room diva anthems, Danny was turning his ear toward the more minimal, tech-y grooves originating in European production studios. This period produced solid remixes like Grace’s “Not Over Yet” (1996) and Janet Jackson’s “The Pleasure Principle” (1996), but by the time he moved to Tunnel in 1998, Danny had already created “Elements,” an instant classic that caused the dance scene’s collective jaw to drop. With his own warped voice providing the narration, “Elements” (one track off full-length Tourism) walked the listener through the different components of a dance track in real time, going from kick to drum loop to snare hit, letting each layer over the other until the track exploded with dark, drum-heavy energy. Next to ostentatious radio anthems, its simplicity was a revelation.
It was around this time that the murmurs started to get louder: Who is this Danny Tenaglia, and just what does he do to people? Clubbers reported seemingly inhuman mixing capabilities, booth-to-floor telepathy, and the grittiest “modern yet classic” grooves they had ever heard come out of a speaker. A trio of label compilations – Mix This Pussy (1994) and Can Your Pussy Do The Dog? (1995) for Tribal, and Gag Me With A Tune (1996) for Maxi – were the first Tenaglia sets clued-in clubbers could take home to dissect, but the release of his first installment in the UK-based Global Underground series of DJ mixes, titled Athens (2000), lit the international fire. Athens (meant to reflect the set he played at the Greek capital’s club King Size) remains one of the darkest, strangest, sexiest sets ever released, and its tame cover photo of a gentle-looking man in a Yankee cap just didn’t seem to fit. DJ dates across Europe dispelled the mystery and started the spread of the infectious Tenaglia fever.
Back in New York, Tenaglia was tiring of the cavernous gloom of Tunnel and longed for a weekly home that better resembled where the DJ bug first bit him – the Paradise Garage. He landed at Vinyl, a black-walled, single-environment, no-liquor club about one-quarter the size of Tunnel. He named the night “Be Yourself,” after the self-affirming, heavy-bottomed vocal track he had recently recorded with Chicago’s Celeda. And he took the name to heart: Without the pressure of bar minimums or an expectant crowd, Tenaglia spread his DJ wings. Next to new tracks by young producers like Rui Da Silva, Peace Division, and Saeed & Palash, he played the artists of his youth, with nary a beat dropped. If he wanted to launch into a two-hour set of straight-up techno, he did. If he wanted to play old Michael Jackson records, he did. If he wanted to get on the mic and tell the crowd the name of the sound he was about to play, or who next week’s guest opening DJ would be, or just give everyone a “verbal handshake” to welcome them to the club, he did. And a city tired of drama embraced the barebones, music-centered night.
The world caught up to Tenaglia in 2000. His annual party during Miami’s Winter Music Conference outgrew its home at the cramped Groovejet and moved to just-opened superclub Space. DJ giants like Carl Cox danced on top of the speakers with the Deep Dish boys, Fatboy Slim mingled on the patio, and for a day the ego inherent to DJ culture evaporated: Tenaglia was hailed as the undisputed king, the “DJ’s DJ.” His roof-raising revamp of Green Velvet’s “Flash” won “Best Remix” at the UK’s Muzik Awards, where he was also awarded the “Best International DJ” prize.
In the two years that followed, Tenaglia released another Global Underground installment (London); toured the world, took the party island of Ibiza by storm, remixed Billy Nichols’ “Give Your Body Up To The Music” (a Garage anthem); got nominated for a Grammy (for his remix of Depeche Mode’s “I Feel Loved,” also nominated for Best Dance Song); returned to Twilo for two special gigs – a President’s Day marathon with Carl Cox that shattered all its attendance records, and the club’s sixth anniversary party with John Digweed, which turned out to be even more meaningful than it seemed at the time (Twilo was shut down permanently a week later); graced the cover of every major dance music magazine; and won a Dancestar Lifetime Achievement award… all while keeping Be Yourself buzzing every Friday.
In 2003, Danny came full circle with the release of Choice: A Collection Of Classics, a two-CD mixed compilation that let him pay direct tribute to many of the artists who had influenced his sound and style. It featured everyone from Blaze to Adeva to Imagination, as well as hefty liner notes explaining the significance of each track, penned by the man himself. He also remixed another Garage classic (Yoko Ono’s “Walking On Thin Ice,” which became her first Billboard number one ever), opened another Space during Winter Music Conference (the new location down the block), and took another Dancestar award, this time “Best Party” for Be Yourself.
Be Yourself took the same honor again in 2004, but this time the win was bittersweet. At the time of the ceremony, Vinyl, now called Arc, had already been sold to developers. Danny closed the classic club on Sunday, April 25, 2004, with an emotional set that lasted well into Monday afternoon, and culminated with his mix of Kings Of Tomorrow’s paean to unending love, “Finally.”
And as in every year since his DJ odyssey began, all across the globe, from Acapulco to Tokyo, more people experienced their first night with Danny Tenaglia, that clubber rite-of-passage that forever changes how you listen to music, go out to nightclubs, and think about DJs.

DENNEY

It’s true that hard work and dedication are the key to success, which young North-Eastern star Denney realised when he was crowned Mixmags youngest ever “Future Hero”. His first smash hit ‘Ultraviolet’ was signed by the infamous Hot Creations camp, leading to huge international success. The track held a strong position at Number 1 in the best selling vinyl chart on Juno and gained him support from heavyweights Sasha, Damian Lazarus, Seth Troxler, MANDY, Pete Tong and many more.

Prior to this Denney had spent years playing at club nights around the North of England and holding a residency for the legendary Back to Basics in Leeds as well as Sugarshack in Middlesbrough. With hours spent educating himself on music, networking and spending countless hours in the studio he soon began to reap the rewards of his hard work with releases on highly acclaimed labels such as Crosstown Rebels, VIVa Music, Saved, Pokerflat, 2020 Vision and of course Hot Creations – the home for his out and out break out record ‘Low Frequency’ in 2015. Within the same year he mixed the VIVa Warriors Summer Compilation as well as achieving a lifelong dream of being asked to do a BBC Radio One Essential Mix.

Denney’s undeniable talents as a DJ have lead him to play all over the world including Europe, Australia and regular appearances in North and South America, highlights at the notorious DC10 and Amnesia in Ibiza as well as securing a residency at the infamous Heart in Miami where long sets were encouraged; something Denney loves to do. His style is unmistakable with a unique blend of house and techno with a distinct ability to create a very special atmosphere. Playing alongside some of the world’s biggest names, Denney has shown a modest, unfaltering style – whether playing a warm up or main room set he always delivers.

2018 was another exciting year with a debut Brazilian & Argentina tour in January, US tour in March and releases on Saved Records, Relief & debut EP’s on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep in Sound and Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour. With the announcement that Denney had joined the ranks of Global Underground’s prestigious “Nubreed Series” mixing the double CD compilation “Nubreed 12” which was released in October and found itself in the Official UK Dance Charts. At the end of the year Denney returned to release on Pete Tong’s FFRR with his single “Empire” which was a homage to the club he started out in; The Empire in Middlesbrough. The track gained massive support from Radio 1 DJs across the board and sat in the top 3 of the Radio One Dance Chart for 3 weeks as well as club support from the likes of Damian Lazarus to Joseph Capriati to Danny Tenaglia.

With upcoming releases on Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations, Saved, We Are The Brave, Stereo Productions and remixes on Ultra and FFRR, launching his own events back in his home town at The Empire in Middlesbrough and plans for a label, 2019 doesn’t look like it will be slowing down for this Northern Favourite.

SHADOW CHILD

UK based Shadow Child made his debut via the mighty Dirtybird early in 2012, mostly thanks to the EP’s lead track “String Thing” dominating Eats Everything’ and Claude Vonstroke’s DJ sets, the World over. This new alias for one of House music’s already..
Where did he come from? The shadows. He was born in the shadows, that’s where he feels most comfortable. That’s where he gets to work, creating bass-heavy house joints that raise the roof from London to Ibiza to San Francisco and everywhere in between. In the shadowy studio is where you’ll find him, wrapped up in his blanket of darkness… Who is he? Shadow Child is his name and he is now revelling in the limelight, thanks to his recent onslaught of firing house music. Not long ago, Simon was known by a different pseudonym, working within the electro house sphere – at his peak he made the brave decision to hit the resent button and go back to his roots. Neale put the electro sound to one side and shifted his focus to tougher drum’n’bass and hardcore influences (the sounds he grew up on), intertwined with today’s omnipresent four-to-the-floor beats. This resulted in a lethal concoction that has found favour with many of today’s most influential figureheads.
Shadow Child announced his rebirth with ‘String Thing’, a powerful production with haunting strings and a no-nonsense bassline that left everyone quivering in its wake yet struggling to resist its pull. The track was snapped up by Claude VonStroke and became the staple of DJs such as Eats Everything, Justin Martin, Zinc, Jaymo & Andy George, Annie Mac and many more of the industry’s most influential tastemakers. From that point onwards a consistent flow of strong releases have appeared from his shadowy lair and been unleashed onto the dancefloors of the world to devastating effect. Labels including DirtyBird, Apollo Music and Moda Black have released his music, attracting a loyal fanbase in the process.
Leading on from his musical success, Shadow Child has also set up his own label with friend Kry Wolf, called Food Music, which provides a home for his productions. He also hosts a weekly slot on London’s seminal radio station Rinse FM and he’s been keeping busy as a DJ, too, travelling all over the UK and Europe. Not forgetting his track ’23’ being featured on the Grand Theft Auto V, played by none other than Flying Lotus. A studio hound, Shadow Child continues to work on new music on a daily basis, putting his unique stamp on each new club-ready production. Busy is not the word! But he wouldn’t have it any other way…
It doesn’t end there. With a forthcoming album ‘Collected’, scheduled for release in November 2013, plus a tour of Australia for the New Year and plenty more music to come from his label in 2014, it’s safe to say you should be keeping a close eye on the shadows…

Ever since Seb first discovered underground electronic in 94, he has evolved right through many elements of underground music. He has forged a strong house and techno sound since establishing himself as a resident at Fuse, however echoes of a more raw sound still permeates his music to devastating effect. A true raver himself, he has a natural affinity with the dance floor which he uses intelligently to build a connection and then taking the crowd deep into his own sound and space. His releases on Off and Monique this year have had a great reaction, but even better is set to come as Seb translates his uncompromisingly raw and powerful DJ style into music productions of the highest order.

MASON MAYNARD

With a scene as vast in Manchester there are few young emerging artists that have secured the support and backing from some of the biggest names in the industry like Mason.
Mason Maynard continues to cement his reputation as one of dance music’s fastest rising talents. Backed by the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard and BBC Radio 1’s Monki, who bestowed the accolade of ‘One To Watch’ upon the Manchester-born DJ, the 22 year old producer continues to go from strength to strength. With Danny snapping up Mason’s huge record ‘Puffy’ to his Nothing Else Matters label, Mason released his ‘13th Street’ EP (supported by Jamie Jones) on Solardo’s Sola Record imprint, and touring the country as the official resident of the ‘Solardo Sessions’ tour.

SHADED

‘’I’m floating in my own abyss of chunky techno and liquid house.” – SHADED SHADED has a signature sound. It’s a weaving combination of driving, psychedelic vibes and funk inspired textures. His sound is undeniable in character, and whilst his production style is constantly evolving, he always stays true to his Southern California roots. To showcase this, he is now working to finalize a new two-hour live Audio Visual show tailored to his style and vision. “No-one is delivering a musical style like my own, and to be able to add the element of what I like visually can take the experience to a whole new level,” he says. And just wait until you hear some of the new music he has incoming: one new track in particular, is a killer collaboration with Cari Golden called ‘Layback Mayback’ set to make waves.
“My new material is my best to date,” he says. “By that I mean I feel I have finally found my place, my sweet spot. I always knew my place, but now I am comfortable in it and don’t give a fuck what other people think. I literally do not worry about pleasing anyone with my music, now. I use to sometimes worry that people might think that some of the music was leaning too far away from my signature SHADED sound, but now I just don’t care. I don’t think. Evolving is my favourite part about making music.” Skyler says pushing bounderies is all he cares about, and Ali ‘Dubfire’ Shirazinia has been his mentor and a key inspiration “since I came up in this industry. He has believed in me since we first meet, which I am forever grateful for. Another source of inspiration was Tiga, because he always marched to the beat of this own drum, which excited me. Papa Sven as well, as his Cocoon sound of the 3rd season disc with Richie Hawtin changed my life!”
Some die-hard fans may know SHADED from the SHDWPLAY duo days – after a string of successful releases together on the aforementioned Dubfire’s SCI+TEC imprint, he ventured down the solo path which ultimately proved the right move, with releases like “Be My Binge”, ‘Dwell’ and ‘Crayzy’. It wasn’t long until Turbo’s head honcho Tiga picked up on SHADED’s fresh approach, and led to a total of 5 EP’s on Turbo which includes the label’s best-selling release and Mixmag’s ‘Tune of the Month’ for ‘She She’ to “Body Feels”, which was heavily supported by Loco Dice, The Martinez Brothers, Martin Buttrich and John Digweed. He’s also a key associate with Oliver Huntemann’s Senso imprint: in fact, he appeared on the imprint’s 5th birthday release this past summer with a belter of a tune titled “I Got Haters”. His remix schedule has also been slick and serene, with reworks for Tiga, Boys Noize, Carlo Lio, Sian, Oliver Huntemann, Dubfire and his Beatport No.2 minimal remix for Christian Smith in 2017. SHADED’s remix of ‘Rising’ (SHADED’s Realized Dreams Remix), a tune by Anabel Englund & company, was bestowed with the coveted “Essential New Tune” from Pete Tong, and was played extensively by Danny Howard and Mistajam on BBC Radio 1 alike. His twisted remix for a Joyce Muniz track ‘Chapter 4’ featuring Aquarius Heaven on Exploited came out earlier this year, and next up his ‘Rippple’ EP was unleashed on Senso, followed by his upcoming release, ‘Mad Stacks’. “Some of the first parties I use to go to in LA were these roof top parties and Jamie would play a fair amount of them,” remember Skyler. “He rolled through LA regularly, before Hot Creations existed, so I was always familiar with him as a DJ. I had always wanted to drop him music for the label. Over the years, and with the coming of age of Paradise, I saw Jamie getting involved more with the techno side of the scene, and it felt like the right time to send in some demos. So it is really cool for me that the first track I sent him hit the button!”
‘Mad Stacks’, he says, is the latest iteration of his sound. “It is almost the definition of my sound, really. By that I mean, it appeals to the Tech-House side of the spectrum, as well as the Techno side. I have always felt my music was always able to dance along that fine line. I have been accepted by the techno community, but also get love from the more house loving heads. Mad Stacks represents this, and his California techno hip hop vibe. When asked about his musical style, Skyler emphasizes his diversity; “no matter what party you are at, my music will work great on the dance floor!” The story behind it is like any other SHADED track… I get in the studio, put together a bread-and-butter kick/bass/snare combo and start recording vocals. I experiment so much with my own vocals that people never believe they are my own. I have so much fun writing little vocal hooks, bits that stick in peoples’ heads. ‘Mad Stacks’ just sounded dope, so I wrote it, and it is cool to hear when people tell me “mad stacks is stuck in my head!” All in all, Skyler is on a mission to spread the SHADED vibe to as many people as possible, and who are we to argue?

As one of the UK’s best-loved selectors Skream has enjoyed the kind of consistency most DJs and producers can only dream of. His passion for collecting and playing music is unrelenting; disco, house, techno and everything in between… it runs deep into his core and he lives it every single day. Still only in his early thirties, Skream has achieved more in the last 15 years than most people do in a lifetime, yet his hunger and enthusiasm is akin to that of a man who is only just getting started…
Skream’s history is well documented; a love affair with music that was triggered by his older brother, Hijak. DJing since he was 11. Making music at 15 and one of the key innovators at the birth of dubstep. All before he’d left his teens. With his place in UK music history already assured, he could have easily kicked back and taken advantage of his legendary status. Instead he opted to make the transition to disco, house and techno, leaving the dubstep world to do his own thing, in typical Skream style.
Tracks like ‘Rollercoaster’ (ft. Sam Frank) and his remixes of Duke Dumont ‘Need You’ and ‘Infinity’ by Infinity Ink helped introduce the world to Skream’s shift in styles, while his mix output from 2013, cemented the change in direction seamlessly blending a variety of 4×4 styles across all of his tracks. Parallel to these pivotal releases he also showcased his eclectic tastes at his Skreamizm parties across the UK and the rest of the world, and so a new chapter began.
In November 2013 he closed his infamous label Disfigured Dubz, unveiling a brand new platform called Of Unsound Mind six months later in May 2014. The label’s ethos is simple; to offer an outlet to Skream’s friends and to give support to the underdogs out there. Of Unsound Mind has clocked over 50 releases since it was launched, introducing artists like Motions, Billy Turner, Melody’s Enemy and Osolot to the world. Skream’s philanthropy is the mark of a man who has remained true to himself throughout his career, no bullshit, just a straight up honest, unfiltered attitude.
On the production tip, he has never stopped pushing out music, utilising his own platform to deliver a slew of techno cuts, encompassing a range of textures; from the rugged to the emotive – including ‘Face Down In The Water’, ‘Settled’ and the mighty ‘Chronicles’ EP with Billy Turner. Elsewhere, he has signed a variety of releases to labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Dennis Ferrer’s Objectivity and We Are The Brave which unleashed his killer track ‘Poison’ in 2018. He’s also produced a constant flow of remixes for major labels like Warner, FFRR and Sony, plus some of the most influential underground outlets, including Hot Creations, Watergate, VIVa, Snatch! and lots more. His endless creativity fueled by the dance floor – the place where his heart lies and where he feels most at home.
For the last few years Skream has been showcasing the depth of his musical knowledge at his ‘Open To Close’ parties, playing all night long at venues around the world; every step of the way he played at sold out clubs that were packed out with people who were there just for him. Skream’s name is now so synonymous with delivering quality that ravers will happily pay for a ticket to see him play all night simply because they trust in his ability to entertain them for eight hours or more. For Skream, this is a dream come true, the epitome of success.
To achieve that kind of trust from the dance floor is rare, and to maintain it is even more extraordinary, but Skream is no ordinary artist and his commitment to music, and his fans, is unparalleled. “There was never any other option,” he says, and that is why he will continue to be one of the UK’s most treasured electronic music artists keeping the legacy of UK rave culture alive until the very end…

DISAIA

Djs and producers Disaia have earned a place in the Underground scene. Spanish artists have grown rapidly and in a short time have managed to sign on the best-known labels in the world. Their talent to produce and their great charisma have led them to play and share the stage with the best artists in the world of electronics. Disaia is formed by two young men, Victor Morato and Jesús Garrido, who were born in a town at the south-west of Spain. (Extremadura)
From a young age they have showed a great interest and passion for music. Although they started playing commercial music, they were always fans of House music, vocals and funniest rhythms. When they discovered their common passion, they decided to join as “Disaia” in order to produce a different “Tech House” which will stand out and become the sound they would like to hear. Learning to produce with different types of programmes and investigating by themselves about this world they began to become more involved, leaving everything aside to turn solely to production. So much was the effort that in just a year and a half they began to reap its fruits, thus entering the TOP 100 of Beatport and receiving the support of the largest and most recognized artists of electronic music. Tomorrowland, BPM Portugal, ANTS Radio Show, Music On, It’s all about the music are just some of the stages, radios and channels where they have played their tracks.
In 2018 they decided to launch their own label “SIENA” in search of artists with talent and dedication in order to help them to promote and expand their music. Currently residing in Madrid and dedicated to production and DJ sets, they dare with all kinds of musical styles giving them their fresh and personal touch.

DATELESS

LA based DJ & producer Dateless is making a name for himself, with his tracks receiving global tastemaker support, signed to labels including Jamie Jones’ HOTTRAX, Solid Grooves, Viva Music, Dirtybird & Toolroom.

Nothing less than a rhythm junkie, this hopeless romantic’s productions most notably feature groovy Latin percussion sections accompanied by irresistibly funky basslines. With an ability to hear extremely precise rhythm, Dateless separates himself from countless artists by intentionally creating imperfect grooves. These subtle imperfections create the illusion that his music is being played by live instrumentalists, an element that does not go unnoticed by devout fans and artists alike.

On stage he has an infectious energy that exudes passion and flair. His overly confident manner enables him to be in complete control of the crowd, comparable to that of a conductor guiding the musical performance of his orchestra. Ultimately his immense passion for music and extreme desire to be placed on the main stages of the biggest festivals results in timeless dance music that is sure to be heard around the world. Gig highlights so far include EDC Las Vegas 2018, EDC Mexico 2019 & other Insomniac festivals, Holy Ship, Dirtybird Campouts & Dirtybird BBQs. His 2nd tour of Australia in early 2020 brought some of his vibe to their best known venues.

Musically, his ‘tech house with swag’ style makes him stand out from the crowd. His single ‘Ever Work’ on Insomniac Records became a top seller on Beatport. ‘Cuando Mueves’ has recently hit 1.6 million Spotify streams without any promotion.

Recent releases include on ‘Utopia 303 EP’ on Michael Bibi’s Solid Grooves label, ‘Funky Levan EP’ & ‘Instajam / Lady Make Me See’on Steve Lawler’s Viva Music and the Some People Don’t Have EP’ on Waze & Odyssey’s W&O Street Tracks.

Already lined up for 2021 are EP’s on Hot Creations and Viva Music to watch out for, plus a summer European tour including a residency at Hi Ibiza with Viva Warriors.

Keep an eye and ear on this space because Dateless music is destined to echo in eternity.

Boasting remixes for Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Joris Voorn, warming up for the multi-grammy award winning Nile Rodgers and Chic, and EPs on Rejected, Defected, Poker Flat, Kaoz Theory and 8Bit, it’s easy to see why his diary has seen him tour the globe. Late 2016 saw the launch of his label ORIGINS RCRDS, with Josh soon pairing house music veterans Marshall Jefferson, Todd Terry and Robert Owens with up and coming artists to the imprint. 2018 has been Butler’s most accomplished year to date. Pete Tong introduced him as “one of the UK’s premier house music talents” for his debut on the legendary BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix series, coming in the midst of a diary filled summer and dropping shortly after his One Mix for Apple Music’s Beats1 and his highly anticipated Hot Creations debut ‘Doesn’t Work’. His Ibiza season proved as strong as any, with appearances on line ups for Do Not Sleep at Amnesia and Solid Grooves at Privilege, before rounding off the season at the infamous DC-10 for Paradise’s 2018 Closing Party. This success was mirrored worldwide with sets at Nocturnal Wonderland, Paradise at Brooklyn Mirage, FNGRS CRSSD and throughout Miami Music Week. DIGITARIA

Daniela Caldellas and Daniel Albinati are the names behind Digitaria. They come from Brazil and started playing together as a four-piece band in 2004, making dance music experiments with a big range of influences, creating beautiful and unusual tunes. The philosophy behind their music never changed with the years — electronic music should have no boundaries, creativity and feelings are the only things that matter. There must be no rules for creation.

Their first release was ‘Teen Years’, in 2006, on German label Gigolo Records. The single became a massive hit in the scene and their first album was released, followed by a huge tour in Brazil and Europe. The track was quickly licensed to a Ministry of Sound compilation and got a flawless remix from the Swedish project Zoo Brazil. Sure enough a good start.

Since then, a lot of things happened. They band became a duo, they made more music, a lot of remixes, a second album and a non stop touring in every possible club and festival in Brazil and South America.

In 2011 they met Jamie Jones in their hometown and gave him some unreleased tracks. Soon they joined the roster of Hot Creations label with the Masochist EP by Digitaria and Funky Fat. The four tracks got massive support from DJs from around the globe, climbing the charts quickly. Some months later Digitaria released the track ‘Reaction’, a collaboration with German duo Adana Twins that had the same destiny — another lovely club hit.

Digitaria’s last release is the Shine EP on Hot Creations (with remixes from Morgan Geist and wAFF), another lovely blend of dancing beats, ethereal vocals, fat bass lines and deep emotional lyrics, the elements that make Digitaria a unique project. In the meanwhile, they have been playing all around the world, from Brazil to Russia, from Ibiza to Istanbul, in dreamlike clubs, parties and festivals like The Warehouse Project, Paradise at DC10, Creamfields, Dream Valley, D-Edge and Warung, to name just a few.

The duo’s next move was to relocate to Europe, where they are finishing their next album, to be released soon. Their music goes from purely dancefloor tracks to romantic vocal tunes — sometimes both at once. A new chapter in their history, indeed. Expect the unexpected; the best is yet to come.

HOT NATURED

Jamie Jones • Lee Foss • Ali Love • Luca Cazal

JAMIE JONES

A globally respected and highly accomplished artist, label boss at the seminal Hot Creations, founder and curator of the worldwide Paradise event series and member of cross-genre band Hot Natured, Jamie Jones has achieved iconic status in the electronic music world. A trendsetter and seasoned tastemaker, the Welsh dance music superstar pioneered his own distinct sound, drawing on his deep knowledge and experience to cultivate DJ sets that weave through a range of diverse, complementary styles selected to energise and enchant the dance floor.

Jamie began to make a name for himself when he became immersed in the infamous East London warehouse party scene in the mid-00s; T-Bar, Kubicle, The End, fabric and many more influential spaces allowed him to make his mark on the city’s scene. Away from the capital, another pivotal outpost was Ibiza, where he spent consecutive summers working and DJing. Jamie’s hard work led to him becoming an integral part of the island and Europe’s music scene. In 2010 he landed a residency at DC-10 for Monday’s worldfamous Circoloco day parties. The following year he was voted World’s No.1 DJ in Resident Advisor’s annual poll, remaining in the top 20 until the polls ended in 2017.

Jamie has also notched up notable positions in DJ Mag’s coveted DJ charts: No. 68 on their 2020 Top 100 and No. 8 on the outlet’s Alternative Top 100, becoming the highest ranking house DJ in the world. He also appeared in the Top 50 of Billboard’s respected Top 100 list in 2018 and 2019, cementing his place as one of the world’s most respected selectors.

In 2013 he launched one of Ibiza’s most popular parties, Paradise, at DC-10. After eight seasons at the club Jamie announced Paradise would be moving to Amnesia in 2021. Over the years the Paradise brand has hosted sell-out shows all over the world, partnering with like minded brands and festivals including The Warehouse Project, Printworks, Tomorrowland, Club Space Miami, The Brooklyn Mirage, We Are Fstvl, BPM and Loveland. In 2017 Jamie launched his Paradise in the Park series, an open air party held in Los Angeles. After two successful sell out years Paradise in the Park will evolve into a two day mini festival in 2021. Jamie has been touring consistently since the late 00’s, criss-crossing the globe to play at shows from Columbia to Japan, Moscow to Miami and Australia. His natural talent, versatility and high work ethic form the foundation of his consistent success, leading to headline slots at the world’s most prestigious electronic music venues and festivals – they include Burning Man, Coachella, Glastonbury, Warung Brazil, Womb Tokyo and many more.

Jamie’s deep passion for music and selecting shines through with every set, his head boppin’ in that trademark style as he channels his unique energy into invigorating dance floors from Sunwaves festival in Romania to closing the main stage at EDC Vegas. In 2018 Jamie started his Las Vegas residency carving out a path for an alternative sound in

Vegas, being one of the first non-EDM acts to hold an esteemed residency in the party hub. That same year Jamie expanded his extensive repertoire with the stunning Opus1 show at London’s esteemed Barbican Centre, developing an innovative classical-meets-electronic concept with Kate Simko, performing live with a 25-piece orchestra. Constantly pushing forwards, daring to experiment and diversify, while holding true to his core sound and ethos, Jamie has demonstrated his natural talent and ingenuity time and again.

A committed studio hound since his very early releases Jamie invests his diverse approach to DJing, and upbeat energy, into his productions. From the highly-regarded Don’t You Remember The Future LP to the unstoppable success of his ubiquitous remix of Azari & III’s ‘Hungry For The Power’, Jamie has produced some of the biggest cuts of the last decade. In fact, that era-defining rework won Defected’s Track of the Decade in 2019, coming top after six rounds of voting and over 600,000 votes. Recent hits include his emotive, funk-drenched rework of Bob Moses ‘Enough to Believe’. His close connection with Damian Lazarus’ groundbreaking Crosstown Rebels label has provided the cornerstone of his discography, more recently showcasing his ability to traverse a number of styles with panache via his own Hot Creations label and sub-divisions, HOT TRAX and Emerald City. As a member of Hot Natured Jamie achieved mainstream success and recognition, breaking into the UK Top 40 with the now-classic ‘Benediction’, with two sold out nights at the Brixton Academy, and headline performances at Coachella and Glastonbury. To date, Jamie’s label Hot Creations has put out over 100 releases, celebrating its milestone with ‘Kooky Chords’, from Jamie himself . The label has also helped launch the careers of numerous artists such as Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed and Detlef, who make up part of the loyal, creative family Jamie has built around him.

Still working tirelessly to spread the house and techno gospel while igniting dance floors all over the world, Jamie Jones remains at the top of his game. His friendly nature, relentless drive and unwavering commitment to the music makes him one of the most respected artists in his field, cultivating a legacy of positive vibes every step of the way.

JEY KURMIS

Jey Kurmis is a Leeds based producer who has been dj’ing all over the UK for almost ten years and producing for around 7 years. From his first release on Phobic Records to this artist defining EP for Hot Creations, Jey has been honing his craft across ten releases and this EP has been getting championed by some of the biggest names in the game including Heidi, Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed and wAFF.

Jey Kurmis is set to be a name on the rise after the ‘Lil’ Nic French EP’ drops on Hot Creations later this month. A four pronged attack of bumping summer jams flecked with infectious vocals – lead track ‘Lil’ Nic French’ first appeared on Richy Ahmed’s massive Rinse FM compilation and rightly sets the tone with its heavy bass beat and mind bending acid line. Next up, ‘LA Shazz’ specialises in a chunky percussive groove and heavy low-end. On the flip, ‘Lover’ is an irresistible al fresco affair centred on a super groovy cowbell that builds with tight kicks and a richly textured soundbed. Closing the package, ‘Miss Raadi’ is another deadly groover laced with a dose of freakiness.

KEVIN KNAPP

Equally adept in the studio, on the decks and behind the mic, Texas-bred, San Francisco-schooled producer, DJ and vocalist Kevin Knapp has emerged from the bustling Bay Area dance music community to international attention, popping up on a diverse selection of serious dance floor slayers by Matt Tolfrey, Richy Ahmed, Groove Armada and, most recognizably, Audiojack, where the pair declared “My beat will control you.” on one of 2012’s most memorable hits, “Stay Glued.”

But jacking house music swing is just one element in Knapp’s musical mixture. Born in Louisville, Kevin discovered his vocal proclivity at a young age in various choral and classical school groups. By adolescents, he was bumping hip-hop along with the rest of his peers, paying special attention to East Coast rhymeslingers like Smif-n-Wessun and Mobb Deep. Though long removed from his current playlist, the boom-bap of golden-era hip-hop still looms large in Knapp’s sounds. No wonder fellow rap-loving ravers Claude VonStroke and Eats Everything are among the DJs jocking his tunes on the global stage, along with Seth Troxler, Magda and Jamie Jones.

Picking up a taste for edgy indie rock during undergrad in Austin, Knapp’s musical make-up might have been fully formed by the time he arrived in San Francisco for law school in 2000. However, the city’s thriving club community was too enticing to resist, and Kevin soon found himself balancing the demands of school with the desire to delve into the scene driven by the progressive house sound, but soon about to swerve into the minimal and tech house lanes with parties like Auralism, As You Like It and Housepitality.

It was in this environ that Kevin made his first steps towards his own musical mission, becoming a fixture behind the decks at infamous SF soirees like Satellite and Werd, and eventually unveiling his early production efforts at the start of the decade, including releases on Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom label, as well as Berlin-based OFF Recordings. From there, it was only a matter of time before Knapp heard the clarion call of the global techno capital, relocating in early 2013 and quickly fielding calls from new neighbors like Pan-Pot and Tiefschwarz, while still solidifying deals with his old homies at Dirtybird for another upcoming release. He’s also become a fixture on the international circuit, gigging across the globe, from Detroit to New Dehli, San Diego to Seoul, and appearing at industry-leading events like Movement (DEMF), ADE and Off-Sonar Week.

Big in build, talent and heart, Kevin’s fierce love of music and ferocious appetite for life continues to drive his quest for aural rapture. With these sturdy roots to hold him high, it is certain he will succeed.

LEE FOSS

Few DJs have made such a dramatic impact on the underground house and techno scene over the last few years as Lee Foss. Described by DJ Mag as “one of the most talented new forces in modern dance music today” and by fellow future house innovators Art Department as their favourite producer, Lee has firmly established himself in dance music’s collective consciousness. Lee and his Hot Natured band mates Jamie Jones and Infinity Ink are currently leading a whole family of like-minded producers that includes Richy Ahmed, WaFF, Digitaria, Robert James and Miguel Campbell, who are currently re-writing the rulebook of how to make evocative, emotive house music. In 2010 he was the highest new entry into Resident Advisor’s key Top 100 DJs poll, entering at number 38 and by 2011 he had climbed to number 18 in the chart, a huge feat given that he only played his first European gig in 2009.

Having hit the UK charts with ‘Benediction’ as part of deep house super group Hot Natured, with genre-spanning hits such as ‘Electricity’ (with MK) and ‘Reverse Skydiving’ under his belt, alongside remixes of chart topping artists such as Rudimental and Lana del Ray, Lee Foss is one of the most exciting forces in modern house music. Not forgetting Hot Creations, the groundbreaking label he runs with partner Jamie Jones, which is arguably one of the world’s most innovative house labels. His unique sound, born out a lifelong love of classic house, 90s hip hop, 80s electro and Detroit techno, has earned him fanatical grassroots support from clubbers in both Europe and North America.

Born and raised in Chicago, the birthplace of house, Lee now lives between London and Los Angeles. Lee made his name on both sides of the Atlantic playing at clubs like Fabric (London), Warung (Brazil), The Warehouse Project (Manchester), The Standard Rooftop (Lost Angeles), The Marcy Hotel (Brooklyn), Watergate (Berlin) and Spybar (Chicago). Lee’s rapid rise to prominence has been as much down to his focused but all-encompassing approach to DJing as it has his pioneering take on nu-school house and synth-heavy techno, backed up by a string of hit releases on labels like No 19, Culprit, Wolf+Lamb and his own Hot Creations imprint.

While growing up in Chicago, Lee cut his teeth on the clubs and raves of the late 90’s, experiences that initially sparked his interest in house and disco. However, it was a chance visit to Ibiza back in 2001, that changed his whole approach to music and helped steer his musical destiny for the next decade and beyond. It was in Ibiza that summer that he first became friends with Jamie Jones and the pair formed a tight brotherly bond that quickly blossomed into their highly acclaimed Hot Creations label partnership with Richy Ahmed, and later their Hot Natured band project with Infinity Ink and their worldwide event brand, Paradise.

Since then, Lee has gone on to release a string of hits on a variety of labels including ‘The Edge EP’, ‘Equilibrium’, ‘U Got Me’ and ‘Starfruit EP’, all of which have been independently awarded ‘Tune of the Month’ in Mixmag at various points. Lee has recently joined forces with house legend MK and vocalist Anabel Englund to form a second electronic outfit, Pleasure State. The trio’s first EP, Electricity, has already landed to much success with Pete Tong announcing the title track as his ‘Essential New Tune’ earlier this year.

With this many accolades under his belt in such a short space of time, it would be easy for Lee to rest on his laurels but this couldn’t be farther from the case. Hot Natured’s latest single release ‘Reverse Skydiving’, is shaping up to be one of the summer’s biggest hits. The debut Hot Natured album is due to follow in the summer, and backed by Pete Tongs legendary FFRR imprint is already garnering incredible anticipation ahead of its release. The innovative Hot Natured Live Show kicked off with two back to back sold out shows at Brixton Academy earlier this Spring and will lead into the band headlining slots at the new Silver Hayes dance stage at Glastonbury, Sonar in Barcelona, Bestival on the Isle of Wight and Wavefront in Chicago. Undeniably this is shaping up to be yet another career-defining year for Lee Foss.

MIGUEL CAMPBELL

Miguel has been galvanised by the house music scene since the early 90’s and has also been a DJ since that time. Miguel began producing his own music as one ‘half’ of the underground duo HCB.

In 2006 he founded his own label Outcross Records, which became a home for his music. Teaming up with fellow Leeds resident Matt Hughes to form MAM, a duo that has remixed the likes of the Imany, Deadmau5 and Flight Facilities, as well as putting out releases via Wolf+Lamb, Future Classic and Outcross itself.

In 2010 he became the newest addition to the Hot Creations team and went on to pick up international recognition, capturing the imaginations of party people the world over.

Miguel’s forward march continues as he refuses to relent, working on more music, including recent remixes for Basement Jaxx & RÜFÜS and continuing to travel to foreign shores, spreading his unique brand of funk around the world.

NATHAN BARATO

Nathan Barato is a Toronto favourite and has been a staple in the city’s underground scene for more than 15 years. Early into his career, his ability behind the decks was quickly recognized by industry peers and fans alike, landing him residencies at some of Toronto’s most established nightclubs, including the iconic The Guvernment nightclub, Footwork and Mad Bar.

Musically, Nathan’s range dabbles in many genres, going back to his early influences of 90’s garage, and ranging to many spans of house and techno. His music has been released on some of the most prestigious labels in the industry, including Hot Creations, Rekids, Cajual, Saved Records, MOOD, Defected, Suara, Inmotion, Snatch, and of course, his very own Roots And Wings Music.

Nathan Barato’s innate entrepreneurial skills have seen him succeed beyond the creative aspects of the industry. In addition to producing and DJing, Nathan has also carved out his spot as a businessman in the scene. In 2004 Nathan founded RAWthentic Music with his brother Jason, operating it for three years before selling it to music partner and longtime friend, Carlo Lio in 2007. In that same year, Nathan and Carlo joined forces to produce and DJ alongside one another, under the moniker The Roaches.

In conjunction with Carlo Lio and The Junkies, Nathan has produced “Union” – a touring event, in which they go back-to-back for the entire night. The next “Union” event to look out for will take place in Toronto over New Year’s Eve.

As Nathan Barato continues to turn industry eyes and ears in his direction, he remains a well-respected and sought after name. He’s been booked to play some of the largest events and clubs around the world, including Womb Tokyo, Stereo Montreal, DC-10 Ibiza, Amnesia Ibiza, Pacha Ibiza, Fabric London, Coda Toronto, Output New York, Verboten New York, Space Ibiza New York, Barn in Italy, Magazzini Generali in Milan and Sound LA.

Nathan recently enjoyed a summer spent in Ibiza where he held residency at arguably the largest party of the summer, Marco Carola’s legendary Music On. Nathan was also invited to play Music On in Mexico, Milan and Miami, as well as Jamie Jones’ Paradise in Ibiza. While Nathan’s career has him busy playing in cities around the globe, he remains proud to call Toronto home.

RICHY AHMED

Richy Ahmed is at the forefront of a new wave of British DJs, who are re-defining house music taking cues from disco, techno, funk and hip-hop.

The last two years has seen the rise and rise of British house music thanks to a whole new generation of DJs and producers like Maya Jane Coles, Julio Bashmore, Eats Everything and Russ Yallop. In the midst of this explosion of homegrown talent and new musical innovation is Richy Ahmed, Paradise at DC10 and Hot Natured resident and partner in the genre-defining Hot Creations label. Richy has spent the last three summers cutting his teeth at some world’s best parties including, Circo Loco in Ibiza, Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival, Watergate in Berlin, Burning Man in the middle of the Nevada desert, Verboten in NYC, Glastonbury Festival’s 40th Anniversary, Hideout Festival in Croatia and countless Get Lost and Hot Natured parties all over the world. Playing alongside some of house music’s biggest stars, Richy is the go-to sparring partner with the likes of Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus, Clive Henry and Seth Troxler. Hailing from Newcastle in the north of the UK, he still makes regular appearances at events across the UK such as fabric in London, Below in Birmingham, Sankeys in Manchester, Basics in Leeds, Just Jack in Bristol and London’s notorious Sunday afterhours institution Kubicle.

The launch of Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and Richy’s Hot Creations label in 2010 turned underground house music on its head, rapidly becoming one of the most popular new labels in dance music. As resident at their hugely successful Hot Natured parties held in London, Detroit, Barcelona, New York, LA and Miami, Richy has been at the centre of this nu-school house explosion and started releasing music last spring with the much-vaunted ‘Suck It’, released as part of the Hot Waves project. Since then he hasn’t looked back. A string of hits on labels like No 19, Get Physical, Mexa and Lower East have found their way into the hearts of clubbers and onto the decks of DJs the world over. Recent remixes of Blackstrobe’s ‘Italian Fireflies’ and Mathias Kaden’s ‘Jackathon’ have helped define a uniquely individual sound that fuses the energy of house and disco with infectious funk-inspired grooves and a touch of sullen mystery, his style has a distinct edge that’s impossible to pinpoint.

Richy’s latest claim to fame is being installed as main resident, alongside label partner Jamie Jones, at Hot Creations brand new ‘Paradise’ night on Thursdays at DC10. This is without doubt THE hottest new club night on Ibiza this summer that will see the Hot Creations crew stick true to their roots at DC10, while giving them a platform to showcase many of the wide range of DJing talent that has helped to shape, inspire and influence their ground breaking sound.

SEFF

In such a short amount of time SEFF has already achieved so much in his musical career, with signings to some of the most respected and sought-after underground labels in the industry he has made a huge impact in the Underground House and Techno scene with his distinct crossover style of raw, underground Deep/Tech House and Techno music with tonnes of attitude, swing, swagger and packed full of energy in both his productions and skilfully constructed DJ sets.

Since being Signed to Steve Lawler’s VIVa MUSiC at the back end of 2012, he has gone on to release on many other hugely respected labels as well which has also led him to working with an array of the very top artists and legends of the scene and even remixing solely for no other than Dave Seaman on Great Stuff Recordings and also being signed to Dave’s own label ‘Selador’ with an array of releases.

Lately he’s been receiving a massive amount of support with his productions from some of the biggest and best artists in the scene and right across the board. Also reaching high positions in many of the big charts including reaching the Top 13 on Beatport and the like. This is an in-angle in which he has many plans and ideas for the future and already has a major following for his sound.

Although a fairly new name to the underground House and Techno scene, SEFF is by far no newcomer to the underground scene as a whole. From a very early age he has been brought up in the underground scene and now for more than half of his life has been truly dedicated to perfecting his style as an artist under many different alias’. Running numerous successful record labels over the years has made him very involved within the scene gaining countless BBC Radio 1 support and working alongside an array of very big named artists from around the globe who have supported him massively over the years and has been lucky enough to have played right across the world from Japan to Ibiza to Ireland and Scotland on numerous occasions and of course throughout all of the UK.

Mindmaze Music is the brainchild of SEFF as a platform to release his own productions and other already established artists material as well as bringing fresh, new talent to the forefront to showcase their music to the masses, Mindmaze stands for true underground House and Techno music, which is why it is rapidly turning into such a great label and the favourite of many underground music lovers around the world.

SEFF also hosts his own monthly podcast, the ‘Mindcast’ in which he showcases the very best selection of releases from which he has been playing throughout the month with the occasional classics thrown into the mix for good measure and of course previewing exclusives from Mindmaze Music itself and hosting guest mixes to an array of top artists. With big things in the pipeline, SEFF is certainly an artist to watch out for at the moment and in the words of Dave Seaman “SEFF has a big, bright future ahead of him”.

WAFF

From his roots in the underground, wAFF has now become globally renowned. His schedule is relentless & the only UK artist to record for three techno hubs, Cocoon, Drumcode & Desolat. He approaches music with unstoppable enthusiasm & attention to detail.
From his roots in the clubland underground of Leeds and Hull, DJ-producer wAFF has gone on to become globally renowned. He has earnt widespread respect. His schedule is relentless but he doesn’t cut corners. He’s the only British artist who’s recorded for all three European techno hubs, Sven Väth’s Cocoon, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and Loco Dice’s Desolat. He approaches music with unstoppable enthusiasm and attention to detail. This summer, for instance, his Ibiza gigs range from his residency at Paradise at DC-10 to Elrow at Amnesia (and the rest of the world!). He’s DJing everywhere, from recent Space in Miami to festival slots at Glastonbury, Hideout, Sziget and, yes, the original Nevada Desert madhouse, Burning Man. Now based in London, much further back wAFF kickstarted the underground dance scene in his native Hull and achieved success with his Koala parties in Leeds, providing a widely respected initial springboard to take things forward.
He’s been part of Jamie Jones’s Paradise crew since their first 2012 season at DC-10, and also recorded regularly for Jones’s Hot Creations imprint with tunes such as his Hot Creations debut ‘Rainbows’, 2016’s ‘Sick Pleasure’ and ‘Kidney Punch’, and 2015 monster ‘Fat Gash’, all played by DJs ranging from Patrick Topping to Marco Carola. For Cocoon he recorded the Freeks EP, which contained the much-hammered hypno-thumping classic, ‘Groover’, while Drumcode released his urgent nine minute techno-tinted floor-stormer ‘VibrationZ’.
wAFF’s studio work has drawn him into the orbit of other key labels. He’s recently been growing much closer to Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich’s Desolat imprint resulting in monsters such as ‘Bondage’, ‘Space’ and the ‘Hanzz Sup’ EP while, going further back, the ‘Wormhole EP’ on Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour was a much-remixed gem. He also collaborated with Berlin DJ-producer Santé for the mesmeric ‘Interferenz’ on the former’s Avotre label, and with Russ Yallop on the bass-bouncing, sampledelic ‘Snakecharmer EP’ for Riva Starr’s Snatch! Records. He now has a plethora of new tracks queueing up for both Moon Harbour and Desolat, as well as forthcoming collaborations with a list of heavyweights, all taking wAFF’s profile from strength to strength, based purely on music, rather than attendant hype. “As far as what I play goes, I love everything from techno to deep house, the whole scale” says wAFF, “A couple of years ago my career started pushing in a whole new direction. Things just escalated, I suddenly found I could go where I wanted to go, be a bit more techno, a bit more European-sounding. Now I’m playing parties like Music On in Amsterdam, doing longer sets; I played 10 hours at Sunwaves in Romania, 10 hours at Space Miami, and 50 hours back-back with Yaya at the Partai Festival in Venezuela. That was the longest set of my life, probably the longest I’ll ever play!”
He has also been in demand for guest production. His recent rework of Matt Tolfrey’s ‘Jazz Hands’ cemented his strong relationship with Elrow, while other recent DJ favourites include his mixes of Birupa’s ‘Party Non Stop’ (For Desolat) and Butch’s ‘Bepsi’ (for Watergate). They’re the latest in a long line of remixes that includes Groove Armada’s ‘Final Shakedown’, De La Swing’s ‘Give Me Time’, Darius Syrossian’s ‘Mischief Brew’, Fur Coat’s ‘There’s No Time’, Hot Since 82’s ‘Trains and Planes’, Elleot’s ‘Ke’Kadeki’, Ezikiel’s ‘The Women From Balkan’, and Leftwing & Kody’s ‘I Wanna Be’ (featuring Robert Owens).
Yet wAFF’s focus is far wider than just music. He comes from a background in acting and dance and may, some day, return to the latter. He’s also emphatic that the ephemeral aspects of clubland don’t interest him. He’s more interested in his own personal development. “I’ve been vegan for five-and-a-half years and my life is better for it,” he explains, “I feel healthier and more energized and never get ill. I care too much about animals to just eat them, although being vegan on the road is difficult.” He also has an ongoing interest in the Japanese healing art of reiki, which is based around the “qi energies” its practitioners say flow around the human body. “I met a woman six years ago and she opened me up,” he says, “She told me that some people are born with the ability to do healing and some people are attuned to reiki but at time I didn’t know what she was on about. Now I’m genuinely involved with healing people. It’s not necessarily always reiki, but I’ve helped people out of depression and body pain, people who’ve been going to physiotherapists and chiropractors for years. I’ll heal them within an hour session, their whole body’s sorted out.” While he’s keen to focus on this aspect of his character which he says, “feels like the real me behind everything else,” wAFF doesn’t feel it necessarily connects directly with his musical career. “My music is my music,” is how he puts it, “and my spiritual side is my spiritual side. I do believe that my energy comes through my music but, then, whoever is creative, their energy comes though all their every creative act.”
This is a side of wAFF that’s at the core of who he is but it runs parallel to his life behind the decks and in the studio. He is, after all, a DJ-producer who’s played them all; from Lost Beach in Ecuador to fabric London, from the Warung Beach Club in Brazil to the epic Tomorrowland Festival to the Electric Daisy Carnival in Japan. Held in esteemed regard by his peers, as well as his fans, wAFF’s reputation may be well-established, but his approach to everything is as fresh and exciting as when he was just starting out.
